work: the use of force to move an object some distance.

joule: In the International System of Units, the derived unit of energy, work and heat; the work required to exert a force of one newton for a distance of one metre. Also equal to the energy of one watt of power for a duration of one second. Symbol: J

kinetic energy: the energy of motion, the faster the object the more kinetic energy

Potential energy: the energy possessed by an object because of its position (in a gravitational or electric field), or its condition (as a stretched or compressed spring, as a chemical reactant, or by having rest mass)

Mechanical energy: The sum of the potential energy and kinetic energy of a body or system

law of conservation of energy: The law stating that the total amount of energy in any isolated system remains constant, and cannot be created or destroyed, although it may change forms.

power: the rate at which you do work

watt: power is joules per second which is a watt

Horsepower: amount of work a horse can do in a minute
