Barge: A large flat-bottomed towed or self-propelled boat used mainly for river and canal transport of heavy goods or bulk cargo
Economy: The money, currency and trade, and the resources of a country.
Meritocracy: Rule by merit, and talent. By extension, now often used to describe a type of society where wealth, income, and social status are assigned through competition.
Government by foreigners: A system where a country is run by people who are not originally from that country, but instead come from somewhere else.
Currency: Paper money.
Dynasty: A series of rulers or dynasts from one family.
Harrow: A device consisting of a heavy framework having several disks or teeth in a row, which is dragged across ploughed land to smooth or break up the soil, to remove weeds or cover seeds; a harrow plow.
Agriculture: Farming. The art or science of cultivating the ground, including the harvesting of crops, and the rearing and management of livestock; tillage; husbandry.
Urbanization: the process of the formation and growth of cities
Commerce: The buying and selling of commodities; esp. the exchange of merchandise, on a large scale, between different places or communities; extended trade or traffic.
Warlord: A local ruler or bandit leader usually where the government is weak.
Bureaucracy: Structure and regulations in place to control activity. Usually in large organizations and government operations.
Civil service exam: A test a person must take in order to qualify for a government job. Used in ancient China's meritocracy, as well as in some government jobs in the U.S.
