plagiarize: (transitive or intransitive) To use, and pass off as one's own, someone else's writing/speech.

source: The person, place or thing from which something (information, goods, etc.) comes or is acquired.

citation: The act of citing a passage from a book, or from another person, in his own words.

consequence: A result of actions.

attribute: (used with to before the object) To associate ownership or authorship with.

verbatim: Word for word; in exactly the same words as were used originally.

quotation: A fragment of a human expression that is being referred to by somebody else. Most often a quotation is taken from literature, but also sentences from a speech, scenes from a movie, elements of a painting, etc. may be quoted.

footnote: A short piece of text, often numbered, placed at the bottom of a printed page, that adds a comment, citation, reference etc, to a designated part of the main text

endnote: An annotation placed at the end of a document.

bibliography: A section of a written work containing citations, not quotations, to all the books referenced in the work.

paraphrase: a restatement of a text in different words, often to clarify meaning

copyright: The right by law to be the entity which determines who may publish, copy and distribute a piece of writing, music, picture or other work of authorship.

copyright infringement: The unauthorized use of copyrighted material in a manner that violates one of the copyright owner's exclusive rights, such as the right to reproduce or perform the copyrighted work, or to make derivative works that build upon it.
