pontificate: To act like a pontiff; to express one’s position or opinions dogmatically and pompously as if it is absolutely correct.

confluence: The act of combining which occurs at the place where rivers and the like meet.
loquacious: Talkative or chatty, especially of persons given to excess conversation.
veer: To change direction or course suddenly; to swerve.
quagmire: A perilous, mixed up and troubled situation; a hopeless tangle; a predicament.
cynosure: Something that is the center of attention; an object that serves as a focal point of attraction and admiration.
